Story: Life is a reflection....

A son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, the son
falls, hurts himself and screams, "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" To his surprise, he
hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain,"AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?" He receives the answer: "Who are you?" Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!" He receives the answer: "Coward!"

He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?" The father smiles and
says: "My son, pay attention."

And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!" The voice answers: "I
admire you!" Again the man screams: "You are a champion!" The voice answers: "You are a champion!"

The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains:
"People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back
everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
You want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want
more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back
everything you have given to it."

YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE...... IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!

One day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered over-achievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz," and he pulled out a one-gallon mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar
full?"

Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes."

The time management expert replied, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar allowing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is the jar full now?"

By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full now?" "No!" the class shouted.

Once again he said, "Good." Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?" One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in it!"

"No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all. What are the 'big rocks' in your life? Time with your loved ones, your faith, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, creating, building, teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you'll never get them in at all." So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question: What are the 'big rocks' in my life? Then, put those in your jar first.

You're driving a bus that is leaving from Pennsylvania and ending in New York.

To start off with, there were 32 passengers on the bus. At the next bus stop, 11 people get off and 9 people get on. At the next bus stop, 2 people got off and 2 people got on. At the next bus stop, 12 people got on and 16 people got off. At the next bus stop, 5 people got on and 3 people got off.

What color are the bus driver's eyes?

The key to understanding the problem is focusing on the right information. If we assume it is critical to keep track of the number of people getting on and off the bus, we focus on information that turns out to be Unessential. It distracts us from the important information.

The answer to the problem is found in the first sentence. YOU are driving the bus so the color is of course the color of YOUR eyes.

If you didn't get it right, don't worry. The majority of people don't answer correctly. If you got it right, you have exceptional problem solving skills.

Abraham Lincoln Didn’t Quit - Chicken Soup for the Soul

The sense of obligation to continue is present in all of us. A duty to strive is the duty of us all. I felt a call to that duty.
A. Lincoln.

Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. If you want to learn somebody who didn’t quit, look no further.

Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.

He could have quit many times - but he didn’t and because he didn’t quit. He became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our county.

• 1816 His family was forced out of their home. He had to work to support them.
• 1818 His mother died.
• 1831 Failed in business
• 1832 - Ran for state legislature - lost
• 1832 - Also lost his job - applied for law school but could not get in.
• 1833 - Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year he was bankrupt. He spent the next 17 years of his life paying off this debt.
• 1834 - Ran for state legislature again - won
• 1835 - Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken
• 1836 - Had a total nervous breakwon and was in bed for six months.
• 1838 - Sought to become speaker of the state legislature - defeated.
• 1840 - Sought to become elector - defeated.
• 1843 - Ran for Congress - lost.
• 1846 - Ran for Congress again - won - went to Washington and did a good job.
• 1848 - Ran for Congress - lost.
• 1849 Sought the job of land officer in his home state - rejected
• 1854 - Ran for Senate of the United States - lost.
• 1856 - Sought the Vice-Presential nomination at his party’s national convention - got less than 100 votes.
• 1858 - Ran for US Senate again - lost again
• 1860 - Elected president of the United States.

THE GOOSE STORY

Next fall, when you see Geese heading South
for the Winter...flying along in V formation...
you might consider what Science has discovered
as to why they fly that way.

As each bird flaps its wings, it creates
an uplift for the bird immediately following.

By flying in V formation the whole flock adds
at least 71 percent greater flying range,
than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction
and sense of community can get
where they are going more quickly
and easily because they are traveling
on the thrust of one another.

When a goose falls out of formation
it suddenly feels the drag and resistance
of trying to go it alone...and quickly...
gets back into formation to take advantage
of the lifting power of the bird in front.

If we have as much sense as a goose
we will stay in formation with those
who are headed the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired it rotates back
in the wing and another goose flies point.

It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs...
with people or with geese flying south.

Geese honk from behind to encourage those
up front to keep up their speed.

What do we say when we honk from behind?

Finally, and this is important, when a goose gets sick,
or is wounded by gunshots, and falls out of
formation, two other geese fall out with that goose
and follow it down to lend help and protection.
They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly,
or until it dies, and only then do they launch out,
on their own, or with another formation to
catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will
stand by each other like that!
The Hand - Chicken Soup for the Soul

A Thanksgiving Day editoral in the newspaper told of a school teacher who asked her class of first graders to graw a picture of something they were thankful for. She though of how little these children from poor neighborhoods actually had to be thankful for. But she knew that most of them would draw pictures of turkeys or tables with food. The teacher was taken aback with the picture Douglas handed in....a simple childishly drawn hand.

But whose hand? The class was captivated by the abstract image. “I think it must be the hand of God that brings us food,” said one child. “A farmer,” said another, “because he grows the turkeys.” Finally when the others were at work, the teacher bent over Douglas’s desk and asked whose hand it was. “It’s your hand, Teacher,” he mumbled.

She recalled that frequently at recess she had taken Douglas, a crubby forlorn child by the hand. She often did that with the children. But it meant so much to Douglas. Perhaps this was everyone’s Thanksgiving, not for the material things given to us but for the chance, in whatever small way, to give to others.
